THE Chairman of the Alresford Art Society has stepped down after four years in office.
David Hughes will be succeeded by Sue Gentry, who has presented him with a photo album of his term in office.
She said: “David has performed above and beyond the call of duty.”
Wendy Starforth Hill, a past chairman and a member of the society for over 25 years, will serve as vice-president following the death of Arthur Stowell.
Mr Hughes said: “I believe the last four years have been successful but I believe that can only be seen as the product of the efforts of many others.
“Notably I would point to those who have served on the committee, sub-committees, special projects and a whole variety of tasks and activities which support the society.”
In his AGM report Mr Hughes said the society was averaging 49 people in attendance each month, with more than 70 in December and January.
