POLICE have arrested six men at Wickham Horse Fair, following a public order incident involving highpowered catapults.
The incident happened some time between 11.30am and 11.50am, in the area around The Square where hundreds of people were gathering for the annual event popular with the Gypsy and travelling communities. Three people were taken to hospital and have since been discharged.
The six men, who are all from the Southampton area, were arrested on suspicion of affray.
Detective Sergeant Laurie Firman who is investigating the incident said: “Six men were today arrested following a public order incident at Wickham Horse Fair.
“I would like to reassure the public that no firearms were used in the incident.”
