WINCHESTER police are seeking help in explaining how a teenager sustained serious injuries in the city centre.
Detectives today appealed for anyone who may have seen an injured man early last Sunday, May 12.
A 19-year-old man from Winchester was found collapsed in an alleyway near to Buddy’s Diner on Jewry Street at about 2.55am.
Officers have examined CCTV footage but it is unclear what happened to the man, who has not been named.
He was later taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service.
The man is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall, with dark-coloured hair and of an average build. He was wearing a white Adidas hooded-top with a black body warmer over it, blue jeans and grey trainers.
He was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and it was found that he had sustained serious internal injuries. He has undergone several operations and remains in hospital at this time.
Det Con Chris Phillips said: “This man has sustained serious injuries and we need the public’s help to find out what happened to him. Did anyone see him walking near to the alleyway? Did you see anyone else going into the alleyway or anyone acting suspiciously?”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Phillips at North Walls Police Station on 101 or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
