IT was a popular BBC TV physical game show in the 1960s and 1970s. Now a Hampshire version of It’s a Knockout is being staged in a Test Valley village.

Mike Horne is the man behind the event at Mottisfont village hall. His inter-village contest, on July 21, will be in aid of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

“It will be based on the BBC show including a joker. We have seven villages that are going to compete. It is to raise money for the Air Ambulance, so each village is getting sponsors for their team and an event,” said Mike.

Teams lined up for the event include, Broughton, Dunbridge, East and West Tytherley, East Dean, Mottisfont and a joint team from Michelmersh and Timsbury.

Games being considered include sumo wrestling, greasy pole, gutter ball rolling, tug o’war and throwing and catching an egg.
