A SPECIAL meeting is to be held in Chandler’s Ford where parishioners will decide “who gets what”.
For the first time, residents will have their say on which community organisations or voluntary groups are given funds.
Following a successful bid for community funding from Hampshire County Council, the parish council now has £5,000 to distribute at the “Have Your Say” event.
The meeting is at the Dovetail Centre, Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church, Winchester Road, on Tuesday, June 18.
From school PTA’s, youth organisations and residents associations, to pensioner clubs, parent and toddler groups, everyone is invited to make their bids in public.
Bidders will give the public an explanation of their projects, before residents cast their vote on who gets what.
Chairman of the parish council, Margaret Atkinson, said: “I am truly delighted that we have been successful in getting this funding for this event from the county council.
“We have many organisations who work quietly and hard to help those who need their support in our parish. This gives them the opportunity to tell the public about the work they do and for our parishioners themselves to decide how they can be supported to fund their projects.”
