A WINCHESTER family are holding a special fundraiser this weekend to remember a loved one.
Mother and daughter Wanda Ventham and Hope Atkin have organised a ‘onesie’ pyjama walk this Saturday (May 18), from Badger Farm to the city, to remember Richard Atkin, Wanda’s partner and Hope’s dad, who died of cancer last year aged 39.
Hope, 11, a pupil at Kings’ School, came up with the idea in tribute to a previous onesie party on a family camping trip.
She said: “I was thinking of all the things we had done together as a family, when I remembered my 10th birthday when we went camping with my friends and their parents.
“While we were there we had party where everyone wore onesies including my dad, who proudly walked around the camp in his!”
Wanda, 36, a nanny, of Lowden Close, Badger Farm, added: “I’m immensely proud of Hope.”
The walk begins at Badger Farm Community Centre at 11.30am and volunteers are asked to donate £5 to take part. For more details or to volunteer, call Wanda on 07979 503478.
