IT was an eclectic mix.
The historic building resounded to African drumming, there was a charity fashion show and the aroma of food from around the world.
St John's House in Winchester was the venue for Spring into Action, a free event organised by the city council and A2Dominion housing group.
It was organised for council tenants to talk to housing officers about issues such as the benefit changes. Other organisation had stands such as the Citizens' Advice Bureau, uSwitch, Winchester Job Club, Credit Union and Neighbourhood Watch.
Heather Wensley, council tenant involvement support officer, said: “It has been really good. Everyone has loved the atmosphere. The African drums were so loud we might have to have a bigger venue next year.”
Oxfam staged a fashion show and there were also Zumba demonstrations, Nepalese dancers and cookery demonstrations from India and Nepal.
