I first met my God Mother, Auntie Vivi when I was only a few days old. Her visits Canada to see our family, Mum Dad and 6 boys, were always a high point in our lives. She will be greatly missed. She was by far our favorite Auntie. (photo 1968)

The first time I can recall Aunty Vivi coming over to visit us in Canada was when my mother, her older sister Monica was expecting. I was almost five and the youngest of five boys, soon to be second youngest of six boys. Aunty Vivi arrived with a large suitcase big as me and a smaller bag. I remember the smaller bag clearly it was a blue and white BOAC travel bag and from it she drew a tiny bear, no more than two or three inches tall. A small brown wire and bristle bear, she knelt down and put it in my hand, I can see it now. Aunty Vivi was the cheeriest person I have ever known, Marry Poppins level cheery and she smelled of lavender. Strange how now, more than half a century later I can see her in my mind as the wonderful young lady with the bright smile, smelling of lavender and reading me a bedtime story. Rest in peace Aunty Vivi, I miss you.
