ELLIOTT Sidney Robert "Sid" Former Swanmore resident, Mr. Sidney Robert Elliott (Son of the late George and Emily Elliott of Broad Lane, Swanmore), passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at his Care-Home residence in Bishop Auckland. Sid was born in Swanmore in 1941 and spent some of the war years in Scotland and Portsmouth. He moved back to Swanmore from Portsmouth with his family in the early 1950's to live with his Grandmother and Grandfather (Annie and Sid Wearne) in Chapel Road. Sid attended Swanmore Church of England School and was a Scout Leader for the Swanmore Boy Scouts Group for several years. While growing up, Sid helped his father, mother and two brothers build their bungalow named "Jesmonde Dene" in Broad Lane, before going on to work in the construction industry in England and overseas. Sid was a keen fisherman and amateur artist, always willing to help others and share his colourful stories. Sid went to live in Bishop Auckland in County Durham where he met and married Margherita, who died in August 2021. They leave a Daughter, Maria and Son-in-Law, Gary; who live in Bishop Auckland. He is also survived by his younger Brother Stewart and family. The funeral will take place on Thursday 19th January at the Wear Valley Crematorium, Bishop Auckland.
