WINFIELD Peter Ward Peter passed away peacefully at Brendoncare, Otterbourne Hill on Saturday 19th November 2022, at the age of 90. He was the adored husband of the late Joyce Elizabeth (d. 2020) for over 63 years and the much loved father to Michael and Susan, grandfather to Ruby and Alfred and father-in-law to Laura and Ian. A Yorkshireman by birth, Peter grew up in Swansea, trained as a mechanical engineer and arrived in Winchester in 1975 as the Managing Director of Ballard (Winchester) Limited. He later owned several local engineering and service companies. Peter was well known for his Christian faith and contribution to the ministry at Christ Church, as well as his support for, and work with, offenders in Winchester Prison and on their release. Generous by nature, his life was characterised by hard work and a commitment to the things most important to him, his family and his faith. There will be a Thanksgiving Service to celebrate Peter's long life at Christ Church, Winchester, on Monday 19th December at 3.00 pm where everyone is warmly welcome.
