THERE will be an evening of Wine, Women and Song at The Anvil, in Basingstoke, on Thursday, May 21.
It will feature Gretchen Peters, Suzy Bogguss and Matraca Berg, along with some guitars and a bottle of good Cabernet.
Gretchen Peters has featured at the Grammys twice as a songwriter, won a CMA Song of the Year award for the ground-breaking Independence Day, and released six albums.
In an industry filled with ambiguity, Suzy Bogguss remains one of the rare artists who has managed to walk the line between critical acclaim and commercial success.
Fans and critics alike have admired her vocal style, musicianship and lyrics for nearly two decades.
In the 1990s, she recorded nine albums for Capitol Records, including one platinum and three gold sellers. In 2007, she released her critically-acclaimed album Sweet Danger, which succeeded in broadening her appeal and bringing her talents to an even wider audience.
Matraca Berg was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters’ Hall of Fame last October.
She has written hits for artists such as Reba McEntire, Patty Loveless, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, and the Dixie Chicks.
This concert at The Anvil will see the three friends swapping and sharing songs in an evening of laid-back entertainment. Tickets for Wine, Women and Song are priced at £20. For more information, call the box office on 01256 844244, or visit anvilarts.org.uk.
