classic opera, Aida, is at Basingstoke as part of Ellen Kent’s farewell tour.
The producer has worked in opera and ballet for around 25 years, but she is planning to take a step back on turning 60.
In Aida, the splendour of Egypt is set against the grandeur of the Colosseum of Rome.
The tragic love story of war, jealousy and revenge is brought to life in a production set against one of Verdi’s greatest pieces, with the well known arias, Celest Aida, Ritorna Vincitor and the Triumphal March.
Sung in Italian with English surtitles, it aims to impress all lovers of classic opera.
There will also be the chance for some theatregoers to take a spell on the stage themselves.
The producers are looking for a few unpaid extras, aged 18 or over, who are willing to appear as part of the show.
Call 01634 820226 or e-mail marketing@ellenkent international.co.uk if you would like to take part.
For those who would prefer merely to sit in the audience, the box office number is 01256 844244.
Amphitheatre Productions and Ellen Kent are due to visit The Anvil in Basingstoke on Sunday, April 19.
