EXPERIENCE one of Western culture’s blazing masterpieces (and tick it off your bucket list).
There is an opportunity to hear what is considered by many to be the pinnacle work in choral singing.
Hosted by Winchester’s Waynflete Singers, the concert will be performed in the awe-inspiring space of the Nave of Winchester Cathedral on Saturday, March 25, at 7.30pm.
The choir will be joined by the cathedral girl choristers, who will add their magical voices to the mix and the concert will be performed in baroque style with period-instrument ensemble Florilegium, under the direction of the cathedral’s director of music, Andrew Lumsden.
An Internationally renowned line-up of soloists will perform: Ruby Hughes, Robin Blaze, Andrew Staples and Benjamin Bevan.
The Mass in B Minor is a monumental work and a cornerstone of choral singing. It is too long for any sacred use and what it offers is an encyclopaedia of Bach’s skills in all their colours.
It is both complex and sublime: offering the audience exhilaration, awe and therapy all in one evening.
