AMENDMENTS TO SPEED LIMITS - STOCKBRIDGE ROAD, ROMSEY ROAD & CHILBOLTON AVENUE, WINCHESTER

TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS –
AMENDMENTS TO SPEED LIMITS IN
STOCKBRIDGE ROAD, ROMSEY ROAD
AND CHILBOLTON AVENUE,WINCHESTER

Hampshire County Council proposes making two traffic orders as follows:
EFFECT OF ORDERS: To impose new/amend existing speed limits in Romsey Road, Stockbridge Road and Chilbolton Avenue as follows:
Order 1:
(i) Impose a 30 mph limit by virtue of restricted road status conferred by a prescribed system of street lighting on that length of B3040 Romsey Road between its junction with Sarum Road (i.e. the termination of the existing 30 mph already in place by virtue of restricted road status) and a point 40 metres south-west of its junction with Kilham Lane/Stanmore Lane, an approximate distance of 1100 metres; and
(ii) Reduce the existing 40 mph limit by 1100 metres to between a point 40 metres south-west of its junction with Kilham Lane/Stanmore Lane (i.e. the termination of the new length of restricted road described above) and its junction with the A3090 at Pitt roundabout, an approximate distance of 504 metres.
Order 2:
(i) Impose 30 mph speed limit on that length of B3041 Chilbolton Avenue between its junction with B3049 Stockbridge Road and a point 70 metres west thereof; and
(ii) Reduce the existing 40 mph to be between a point 70 metres west of its junction with Stockbridge Road (i.e. the termination of the new 30mph limit described in (i) above and its junction with B3040 Romsey Road, an approximate distance of 1233 metres; and
(iii) Impose a 50 mph limit (currently derestricted) on that length of Stockbridge Road between a point 45 metres north-west of its junction with Littleton Road and a point 240 metres north-west of its junction with Windmill Hill Lane, an approximate distance of 6100 metres.

High Street, Winchester (Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays 8.30 - 5.30)
OBJECTIONS: All objections and other representations in respect of these proposals must be sent in writing to the undersigned quoting reference:- C636/637/MB by 15 December 2011. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Persons wishing to make objections or other representations are advised that in the order-making process, objections or other representations may become publicly available and therefore the names and addresses of those persons making objections or other representations may also be made publicly available.
TITLE: The orders, if made, will be known as:
Order 1: “The Hampshire (Romsey Road/Badger Farm Road Area, Winchester) (Restricted Road and 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2012.”; and
Order 2: “The Hampshire (Stockbridge Road and Chilbolton Avenue, Winchester) 30, 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2012”.
