TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT SPEED RESTRICTIONS

THE A34 TRUNK ROAD
M3 JUNCTION 9 - TOT HILL INTERCHANGE
TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT SPEED RESTRICTIONS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport has made an Order on the A34 Trunk Road, in the County of Hampshire, under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to impose an overnight temporary mandatory 40mph speed restriction on lengths of the A34 between M3 Junction 9 north of Winchester and Tot Hill interchange overbridge (B4640) south of Newbury; at certain stages of the work an overnight temporary mandatory 10mph speed restriction will be imposed on lengths of this road while traffic is escorted through the works area by a convoy system. This is in the interests of road safety to enable contractors to undertake inlay, patching, white lining, catseye, kerbing, gully, vegetation clearing and all associated work.
It is expected that the work will take place periodically over a twelve month period starting on or after Tuesday 29th November 011 between 2200 and 0600 hours. The Order will come into force on 29th November 2011 and have a maximum duration of twelve months.
The temporary mandatory speed restrictions will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
