New Forest National Park Design Guide Supplementary
Planning Document (draft for consultation)

Draft design guidelines for new development within the National Park have been prepared by the New Forest National Park Authority. This guidance aims to achieve high standards of design in new development throughout the National Park while retaining and enhancing the distinctive character of the natural and built environment. It is intended to help support the pre-application process by providing guidance to assist applicants, agents and others to respond to rural characteristics and local distinctiveness when designing their proposals. Following the public consultation, the intention is that the guide will be formally adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) by the National Park Authority and will form part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) for the National Park. The LDF forms the basis for decisions on land-use planning.
The public consultation on the draft SPD runs from Friday 9th September 2011 to Friday 21st October 2011.
