HAMPSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE AUTHORITY

HAMPSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE AUTHORITY AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS NOTICE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that in accordance with Sections 15 and 16 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 and Regulations 13, 14 and 16 of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2003:
1. From Thursday 28th July to Thursday 25th August 2011 inclusive, any local government elector interested, on application to the Treasurer to the Fire Authority, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UB and during normal office hours, may inspect and make copies of any part of the accounts of the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority for the year ended 31 March 2011 and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating thereto.
2. On or after Friday 26th August 2011 at 10.00 a.m., until the completion of the audit, the District Auditor, at the request of any local government elector for the area to which the accounts relate, will give the elector (or his representative) an opportunity to question him about the accounts, and any such elector (or his representative) may attend before the Auditor at the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Leigh Road, Eastleigh, Hampshire SO50 9SJ and make objections as to any matter in respect of which the Auditor could take action under Section 17 or 18 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 (namely, an unlawful item of account, failure to bring a sum into account, or a loss or deficiency caused by wilful misconduct), or could make a report in the public interest under Section 8 of that Act.
3. No objection may be made unless the Auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objection and the grounds upon which it is made; such notice should be addressed to the Auditor at The Audit Commission, Collins House, Bishopstoke Road, Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO50 6AD (telephone: 0844 798 1740). A copy of such notice must also be sent to the Treasurer to the Fire Authority at The Castle, Winchester SO23 8UB.
