Public Notice

SECTION 70 (8) Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990

SECTION 70 (8) Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990
Alterations to the boundaries of existing Conservation Areas
The South Downs National Park Authority has completed a review of Droxford Conservation Area and Exton Conservation Area.
Notice is hereby given that, on 12th November 2015, the South Downs National Park Authority adopted a Conservation Area Character Appraisal and amended the boundaries of both Droxford and Exton Conservation Areas.
In carrying out the review the South Downs National Park Authority has exercised the powers granted by Section 69 (2) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990. The review has looked at the character, the appearance and the special architectural and historic interest of the Conservation Areas and has concluded that variations to the boundaries of these two Conservation Areas are appropriate and timely.
Conservation Area boundary changes that have been made are summarised as follows:-
Droxford - five separate extensions to incorporate parts of Police Station Lane and Union Road on the west side of the Conservation Area and the mill race and a small sliver of land on the north eastern side of the Conservation Area
Exton - small extensions on the northern boundary to incorporate the village pound and on the eastern boundary to incorporate the bridge across the river Meon.
Maps of the revised boundaries are held at the South Downs Centre, North Street, Midhurst GU29 9DH and may be inspected there during the following hours: 09:00-17:00 Monday to Thursday 09:00-16:30 Friday. The maps are also available to view on-line at: https://www.southdowns.gov.uk/ planning/planning-advice/conservation-area-appraisals-and-management-plans/ together with the adopted Conservation Area Character Appraisals.
