Audit of Accounts – Notice of Public Rights

Audit Commission Act 1998, sections 15 - 16

Accounts and Audit Regulations 2011, Regulations 9, 10, 21, 22, & 24

Each year the council’s accounts are audited and any person interested has the opportunity to inspect and make copies of the accounts and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them. For the year ended 31 March 2013 these documents will be available on application to Brighton & Hove City Council, Central Financial Services, Financial Services, King’s House, Grand Avenue, Hove between 9.00a.m and 4.30p.m on weekdays between 24 June 2013 and 19 July 2013.

Local Government electors and their representatives also have:

• the opportunity to question the auditor about the accounts. The auditors will be at Wessex House, 19 Threefield Lane, Southampton for this purpose on 16 July 2013 and will continue to be available until the audit has been completed;

or any items in them. Written notice of any objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to Brighton & Hove City Council.

The audit is being carried out by Mrs Helen Thompson, Ernst & Young LLP, Wessex House, 19 Threefield Lane, Southampton, SO14 3QB and will be conducted under the provisions of the Audit Commission Act 1998 and the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2011.
