TEST VALLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSED CONVERSION TO SHARED FOOTPATH / CYCLEPATH - WOODLEY

TEST VALLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSED CONVERSION TO SHARED FOOTPATH / CYCLEPATH - WOODLEY
The Borough Council's Cycle Strategy contains schemes to enhance cycling. The demand for cycling, as a result of the development at Abbotswood, is likely to increase and therefore it is proposed to extend the local cycle network. The developer is obliged to pay contributions to help achieve this. This advert forms part of a formal consultation taking place over the next two weeks. The routes to be enhanced are between Woodley Lane, Cupernham Schools and shops in Warren Gardens.
It is proposed that various footways and footpaths within the Woodley area be converted to shared use so that cyclists may legally use them as well as pedestrians. The routes will allow residents within Woodley to cycle to the Cupernham Infant and Junior Schools, the shops in Warren Gardens or out of the area and onto other local cycle routes. Additionally it will connect cyclists north of the area using Braishfield Road or from Abbotswood to the above facilities. Improvements will be made to bring the existing footpaths and footways up to current standards for shared use. The routes will be widened to 3m where possible and appropriately signed and marked to encourage their use.
If you would like any further information about the proposals or would like to make any comments, please contact the Planning Policy and Transport team by 30 November 2012 on 01264 368723 or email engineering@testvalley.gov.uk or by writing to the Council offices at Beech Hurst, Weyhill Road, Andover, SP10 3AJ. Further information is on the Council's website at testvalley.gov.uk and search for Woodley cyclepath conversion. Once the consultation is completed the website will be updated with the outcome.
