TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS

HAMPSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS – 30 AND 40 MPH SPEED LIMITS IN NEWTOWN ROAD AND DOCTORS HILL AT NEWTOWN

Hampshire County Council proposes making a traffic order as follows:
EFFECT OF ORDER: To impose 30 and 40mph speed limits on Newtown Road and Doctors Hill as follows:
30mph speed limit
(i) Newtown Road, between its junction with A27 Salisbury Road and a point 550 metres north-east of its junction with Doctors Hill. (ii) Newtown Road, between a point 220 metres north-east of its junction with Carters Clay Road and a point 432 metres north-west of its junction with Danes Lane (the northwestern end of the proposed 40mph described below). (iii) Doctors Hill, between its junction with Newtown Road and its junction with Branches Lane, an approximate distance of 990 metres
40mph speed limit
Newtown Road, between its junction with Danes Lane and a point 432 metres north-west thereof (i.e. the termination of the 30mph limit described in (ii) above).
FURTHER DETAILS: A copy of this notice, the proposed order, a map showing the location and effect of the proposal, a statement of reasons and the order to be varied/revoked may be viewed at http://www3.hants.gov.uk/publicnotices or inspected during the usual office hours at the following places:
(i) Romsey Library, Station Road (Opening hours : Mondays and Fridays 9 - 5; Tuesdays and Thursdays 9.30 - 7; Wednesdays 9 - 1; Saturdays 9 - 4)
(ii) Borough Offices, Beech Hurst, Weyhill road, Andover (Opening hours : Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 - 5; Fridays 8.30 - 4.30)
(iii) County Council Information Centre, Mottisfont Court, High Street, Winchester (Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays 8.30 - 5.30)
OBJECTIONS: All objections and other representations in respect of this proposal must be sent in writing to the undersigned quoting reference:- C641/MB by 9 December 2011. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Persons wishing to make objections or other representations are advised that in the order-making process, objections or other representations may become publicly available and therefore the names and addresses of those persons making objections or other representations may also be made publicly available.
TITLE: The order, if made, will be known as “The Hampshire (Various Roads, Carter’s Clay and Newtown) (30 and 40 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2012.”
