End of an era, but exciting times ahead in the Southern Premier League for Winchester City FC at the Charters Community Stadium.

The last game (ever) on our old undulating grass pitch was a tight affair against a tough opponent in Beaconsfield Town with Winchester City running out 1- 0 winners on the day.

This season has seen over 25 per cent of home games having to be rearranged due to a waterlogged pitch. Add in the the 37 youth teams that play for the Winchester City FC badge and that is a lot of sporting weekends completely washed out.

Next week the contractors will arrive and will make a start, creating a new, smooth and flat, all weather surface, which will allow not only the Winchester City FC to play and train with minimal disruption to fixture schedules but also enable Winchester City Flyers ladies teams to have a home ground to play at.
