A Winchester cocktail bar has defied the recession to celebrate its first anniversary in business.
Plain and Fancy was opened in Jewry Street in Autumn 2009 as a late night venue for both students and professionals.
The bar is run by young entrepreneurs Andy Heller, 22, and Tori Cahil, 19. Mr Heller said: “We’re grateful for the support of people in Winchester who have welcomed us to the city, and proud to have built a successful enterprise even whilst times are so tough for businesses.
“Winchester is a prosperous area, yet people often forget the reason for this is because residents are so careful with their money. I’m proud to say they recognise our commitment to creating a unique venue in a very unique city, and it’s been a great year”.
The bar is open from 4pm until 1am Mondays to Saturdays. For more information call 01962 860900.
