WINCHESTER glamour girl Lucy Pinder has received some high profile support to help keep her in Celebrity Big Brother ahead of tonight’s eviction.
Both George Beckett the leader of Winchester City Council and the city’s mayor Mike Read are hoping the 25-year-old local girl escapes the public vote.
The former Peter Symonds College student faces being kicked out of the house alongside fellow celebrity Ulrika Jonsson.
The pair were put up for eviction by Terry Christian who called Lucy the ‘least talented’ housemate.
Cllr Beckett said that although he won’t be watching the eviction tonight his wife is recording it so he can watch it later.
He said: “I’ll be taking a close interest in it. I’m very pleased that a Winchester girl is representing the city. I would be most disappointed if she was voted out of the house this early on.”
He added that she must be a ‘very bright girl’ after learning that she was a Tory supporter.
Cllr Read also added his support to keep Lucy in show. He said: “It will be nice to see a Winchester person go through.”
But controversially Winchester MP Mark Oaten said he prefers Ulrika Jonsson.
He said: “I’m not going to back the local lass. She is very sweet but I’m not impressed by her personality as much as the others. But I have been impressed with Verne. I feel sorry for Ulrika Jonsson and I hope she gets a chance to stay in. But it is only a game show.”
The Liberal Democrat MP added that he will be recording tonight’s show and hopes that pint-sized actor Vern Troyer goes on to win the show.
Oaten has been offered the chance to appear on celebrity Big Brother a number of times following the rent boy scandal in 2006.
He was forced to quit the party's front bench after admitting a relationship with a male prostitute.
Lucy’s mum Jenny Pinder, from Harestock told the Hampshire Chronicle that her daughter would be disappointed if she was the first to go.
She said: “Before she went in Lucy said she didn’t have a hope in hell of winning but didn’t want to be first out because that would be humiliating.”
Neil Hopkins, the principal at Peter Symonds College where Lucy was a student, refused to comment on whether he was supporting her or not.
Lucy’s career in front of the camera started after she was spotted in a bikini on Bournemouth beach.
The show starts tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
