A BODY was found shortly before a weekly running club was set to commence in Winchester.

At 8.26am on Saturday, October 12, police were called after a body of man was found near the cricket pitches at River Park off Nuns Road, Hyde.

Police officers attended the scene and have said that 'the death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious'.

This news comes after Winchester Park Run cancelled its weekly event 'last minute' due to 'emergency services dealing with an incident'. The run was due to begin at 9am and many participants had shown up before the cancellation was announced.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
