WONSTON Community Café has raised £330 for Citizens Advice in Winchester this month.

Representatives from Citizens Advice attended the café, and set up a stall in the foyer, showing the types of help on offer.  The ladies also spoke to several café visitors about specific issues.

The next Wonston Community Café will be at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, from 9.30am to 12noon on Wednesday, May 15 supporting Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Using both a helicopter and emergency response vehicle, the Charity brings a team of highly skilled pre-hospital emergency medicine doctors and specialist paramedics to the scene of an incident, effectively bringing the hospital to the patient when time is critical. According to the charity it costs approximately £15,000 a day to maintain the service.

The community café sells a range of homemade cakes, alongside tea and coffee. Free parking is available. The café is cash only.

SOUTH Wonston Parish Council is informing residents that a military competition, the AGC’s Triple Crown Competition, will be taking place at Worthy Down Camp on May 15.

Competitors will be crossing Christmas Hill and the A30 throughout the event. There will be military police cars with flashing lights and signage for drivers to slow down.

MICHELDEVER Variety Group has announced its latest play.

The group will be performing A Murder Is Announced at Northbrook Hall from July 4 to July 6. Tickets will be on sale from May 20.

A DOG show will be at the Gratton, Sutton Scotney on Sunday, May 12.

There are a range of categories for attendees to enter, including: Loveliest Lady, Fabulous Fella, Most Precious Puppy, Georgious Golden Oldie, Best Rescue, Waggiest Tail, Awesome Eyes, Best Trick and Fastest Recall.

The show will take place from 12noon to 2.30pm. Entry costs £2 per class on the day. Refreshments will be available.

A PLANT sale and coffee morning is taking place at St Mary’s Church, Micheldever on Friday, May 24. The sale will last from 9.30am to 12noon.

Real coffee, homemade cakes and biscuits and bacon sandwiches will be on offer.

MICHELDEVER Village Fete will return on Saturday, July 20.

This year the fete will be at the Lord Rank Playing Field, raising funds for the maintenance of St Mary’s Church, Micheldever. There will be a variety of stalls, including bric a brac, plants, tombola, spirits, children’s games, books, bottles and more. There will also be the Tea Tent and a BBQ.

The arena will feature a dog show as well as traditional family competitions.

THE Dever Valley Singers are holding a pair of concerts to celebrate the group’s 40th anniversary.

The concerts will be held at St. Margeret’s Church, South Wonston on Saturday, June 15 at 7.30pm and at St. Mary the Virgin Church, Micheldever on Sunday, June 16 at 6pm. There will be a retiring collection for church funds.

TENNIS coaching will return to the Gratton, Sutton Scotney, from May 28 to May 30 during half term.

There is no charge for the coaching, as it is paid for out of funds generated by the Gratton Trust. Three different classes are available, for children aged 4 to 8, 9 to 11 and from 12 to adult. More information can be found on the Absolute Tennis website.
