THE Dove Inn in Micheldever Village is holding a free party to ring in the New Year.

Taking place on December 31, the free ticketed event will feature a lively disco, karaoke, fancy dress and a roulette. There will also be a best costume competition.

Free pizza will also be available, and the bar will keep drinks flowing into the evening. Free tickets can be acquired by speaking to staff members.

SOUTH Wonston baby and toddler group is taking a break for Christmas and the New Year. It will return to South Wonston Pavilion on January 10.

THE Half Moon and Spread Eagle pub in Micheldever will be welcoming in the New Year with music from Chris Berntsen. Entry is free, and a hot buffet will be available from 11pm.

MICHELDEVER Parish Council will hold its next meeting on January 3 at East Stratton Village Hall. The meeting will start at 7.30pm.

HAMPSHIRE County Council has announced that the planned S106 works in South Wonston have been postponed into the new year due to the recent wet weather.

The rain has caused safety issues on the network, with the county council having to redeploy the resources which were due to carry out the work. The county council has apologised for the disruption.

MICHELDEVER Variety Group has announced its Christmas production, Happy Ever After.

The play will run at Northbrook Hall, Micheldever from Thursday, January 25 to Sunday, January 28. There will be two performances on Saturday, January 27. Tickets are currently available to purchase online and cost £13 for adults and £10 for concessions (those under 12 and over 65).

The group’s Play in A Week will also be returning next year. Running from April 2 to April 6, the play will be Matilda. Places will cost £100 each. More information can be found on the Micheldever Variety Group website.

SOUTH Wonston Parish Council is running a community café every Monday at South Wonston Pavilion. The café runs from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and offers free tea, coffee, biscuits and soup.

The café is open to everyone to have a friendly chat and enjoy the afternoon.

SOUTH Wonston Sustainability has set up a collection point for used stamps. The collection boxes are located at South Wonston Stores Ltd, Dever Stores and at South Wonston Sustainability’s usual drop-off point in the village.

Any donated stamps must be undamaged and have a margin of envelope around them – any first-day covers must also be intact.

WONSTON Community Café will return on Wednesday, December 17. The café, at Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, will be raising money for the Royal British Legion Women’s Section. Formed in 1921, the charity provides care for service personnel and their dependents.

The café will be open from 9.30am to 12noon and sells coffee, tea and homemade cakes. Parking at the venue will be free. The café is cash only.
