WONSTON Community Café has raised £460 for Blood Cancer UK.

The café took place on Wednesday, October 18. A further £25 was raised later in the day by supporters who could not make it to the café. Local artist and glassmaker Eryl Holt was also in attendance, selling glass decorations and printed scarves in the foyer of Victoria Hall. Eryl donated all the proceeds from her sales, £202.50, to the charity, with a final total of £700 going to Blood Cancer UK.

The community café will return on Wednesday, November 15, supporting Winchester Talking Newspapers for the Blind. The café will be at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, from 9.30am to 12noon.

SOUTH Wonston Village Cinema will be returning on Saturday, November 18. It will be screening the romantic comedy What’s Love Got to do With It? starring Lily James, Shazard Latif and Emma Thompson. There will be two screenings, starting at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, at South Wonston Village Hall.

Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased at the door.

ENTERTAINMENT Events is returning to Micheldever with a new production of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol. Join Marley, Tiny Tim and the Ghosts of Christmas Past Present and Future as they teach Scrooge the true meaning of Christmas.

The show will take place at St Mary’s Church, Micheldever on Sunday, December 3. Suitable for all ages, the show will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 and can be purchased on TicketSource or by contacting Juliet Pattinson by calling 01962 774399 or emailing julietpattinson61@gmail.com.

THE South Wonston Parish Council fireworks display takes place on Saturday, November 4 at the Recreation Ground.

The event opens at 5.30pm, with the fireworks starting at 6.30pm. The event will feature food and drinks on sale, as well as music and fairground rides (weather permitting).

The display is free to enter, with a suggested donation of £1 per person.

South Wonston Parish Council is still looking for wooden pallets to be burned on the bonfire. Anyone with pallets to donate is asked to contact the council before November 4.

SUTTON Scotney Divos' and Devers have announced their 2023 Christmas panto, The Wizard of Oz.

Performances will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, December 7 to Saturday, December 9 with matinee performances at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 10. The performances will be held at Victoria Hall, on Wonston Close.

The show is appropriate for all the family, and tickets are now on sale. All proceeds go to charity, including the Victoria Hall.

THE Victoria Hall Christmas Market is returning on Saturday, November 18.

Running at the hall from 10am to 12.30pm, it is the perfect opportunity to stock up on presents and cards, as well enjoy refreshments and perhaps even win a raffle prize.
