ORGANISERS of a Winchester festival brought carnival fun to the city with free children's workshops.
The theatrical and musical pop-up city of BoomTown Fair joined forces with artists from Bassline Circus and Awards for All to bring back the carnival arts family sessions.
Activities at Winchester Discovery Centre included giant costume and banner making, and attendees received a free Sunday day-ticket to take part in the parade finale.
Last year was the first time the sessions were held.
Youngsters from Naomi House, Firefly Theatre and Winchester GoLD were involved and organisers said they were pleased to bring back the inclusive workshops.
One of the organisers, Mia Harris, said: "It was fantastic to be able to put on an inclusive event for children and young people, bringing together a variety of skills, dance, costume and banner making to share with a huge range of ages and abilities."
Natalia Colville, organiser, added: "We are really excited about bringing it all together on the Sunday Carnival Parade at BoomTown on August 16 and can’t wait to see all the vibrant and colourful costumes the children created in the incredible street sets of BoomTown."
BoomTown Fair, at Matterley Estate in Winchester, is on August 13-16.
